Phage Therapy

Mathematical modeling for dosage strategies

The use of bacteriophages to attack bacterial infections has seen a renewed interest since the rise of antibiotic resistant bacterial strains. Phages can be designed attack specific bacterial strains and show significant promise. However, the complex dynamics of phage and bacterial interaction and evolution makes designing optimal dosing strategies difficult.

In collaboration with Dr. Gina Suh and Mayo Clinic's phage therapy team, I am developing a mathematical model for phage-bacteria interaction which we plan to use to design dosing strategies for phage therapy.
